Marketing actions

** Actions close to the customer (face-to-face, friends, family, acquaintances, sponsors)

  • Selling at concerts. 2015 programme  – 7 concerts in total for 2015. Lindley Church and Uppermill Civic okay for merchandise. A Christmas CD might be nice ? downloadable from website (JM). What about KLTV recording a live concert – Christ Church at Christmas? financed by 100 club. Mention to Tom (DWx).
  • We need more general beer mats SF will order.

* E-marketing. Mailchimp has 43 social members. Newsletter – SF to design program – Information about concerts particularly Cornwall (ask JRRx) and October. Short informative articles based in website and linked to front page of newsletter. No in-jokes. Font Arial 12p. 250 words approx. To be included in notices – SF to ask for articles from the choir members.

Still important to recruit subscribers COLLECT WHERE YOU CONNECT

(1) Online sign up link

(2) Business cards like the Christmas stickers to be ordered SF – they include the prize draw which could run from the stall through to Christmas. Ask choir members to hand them out friends, family, work and leisure contacts. (This may overtake the need for members to be ticket sellers).

(3) Anyone within 10 feet – face-to-face opportunities, at the stall and concerts – either direct onto a device or noted down on paper. Swapping business cards, telephone chat, guest book.

(4) Posters with the information included.

* Stalls  -Summer Holmfirth stall – Holmfirth Square – July 14th DWx will book and we will need a gazebo. September craft market stall to be decided depending on HTH concert.

** Actions remote from the customer

  • PR/media – SF to continue with Holme Valley Review and Examiner. EC the rest of the list of  Parish Magazines, What’s On mags etc. The free websites/index still available. JM/SF will manage them. DW will continue with Kirklees Leisure
  • website – SF will get a price for a new look website ? a good project for the 100 club.
  • Flyers and posters. Was there a plan so everywhere was covered? Could we produce lists of places which would go together and then ask for volunteers and give them the list? (DW – still planning)

* Facebook page – digital equivalent of a poster/flyer. What to go on it?

* Video – Kirklees – TV now available ? spreading the word. Twitter, Facebook, add to newsletter? No firm action, but presumably SF/LM can cover this.

Future marketing projects

  • University partnership – results awaited – ‘We have been given the date of 21st April by our tutors for the presentation between 10:00 and 12:00, we will give you a more specific time nearer the date.’ DWx to check how many choir members can come.
  • Whilst we cannot guess at the outcome of the student project, I suggest we flag up now the need to review the role of the group, its achievements to date and the plan for the future.. I suggest a seminar, maybe a half day, coordinated by Vincent (lecturer in marketing and private consultant) and attended by members of the promotion group, our students, chair and secretary, music subcommittee. Vince’s fees organised around £200, but SF thinks the choir might pay (DW still has moneys from previous books). End of May early June. DWx  to contact Vincent and plan. Ask Chris at the club for some spare dates

A street activity license can vary between £35 – £120 per day. Email from licensing – ‘Please find attached the application form you require. A street activity is booked on a first come first serve basis, therefore if you know in advance the dates you require we can provisionally book you in and once the completed application form including payment has been received we can issue you a license. The most suitable area for this in Holmfirth is on the corner by the Butchers. Do you have any dates in mind?’ (Promotion team to discuss dates nearer the time ? summer and Craft market in Sept). DW to enquire about time needed in advance before booking and the possibility of a table. ‘I am really sorry but I do not specifically remember what the stall was in relation to. It sounds like you  may need a street activity/street collection license. We require 10 working days in order to process this application but we will need to provisionally book the dates you plan to have the stall in the diary to ensure you will be the only stall there. You will need to provide your own stall.’
